Dreaming

April 30, 2010

We know a lot about dreaming.  We know lots about daydreaming and dreaming with eyes closed.  We know about dreaming with fantasies and dreaming with a deadline.  But we know so few about dreaming with logic…

I think the main issue about dreaming is the capacity of making it true. Reality has a structure.  We often call it the territory as opposed to the map which is the mind.  The capacity of the map to reflect the territory is called Logic.  This is also the ability to make dreams come true and this is also my idea for life today.

Pure and Simple

April 27, 2010

This is made by my wife. Isn’t it beautiful? Actually, she makes lots of jewelry that can be seen here. It is a very interesting domain to deal with: it’s not only about making beautiful things, but also making beautiful women with these beautiful things. It’s twice of an art.  The only thing I don’t like is that it takes her too much time.

Happy as I am being a man and not having to use this kind of stuff I really appreciate however that taste for beautiful accessories and the possibility women have to add to their beauty.

Ice Age

Did you know spiders practice cryogenics? They probably hope to survive the financial crisis in this original way.

My son found this near the house.   Natural criogenesis

Brother Nikolai

March 4, 2010

If you happen to be in a place so distant from home as Bangkok, you can find something quite unusual for that place: an Orthodox Christian church, on the Sukhothai Street, in the Kingdom of Thailand’s capital. It is a chapel under the care of the Moscow Patriarchate and is dedicated to St. Nicholas the wonder-worker. Although the church is Russian, the service is officiated not only in Slavic, but also in Thai, English, Greek and … Romanian, thanks to the blessed service of brother Nikolai, who is an altar assistant, or a deacon there. Brother

Nikolai is a Romanian, from Romania. He was “born again” as the gospel says, some 15-16 years ago and, after his marriage, became devoted to religious practice with pious and tireless enthusiasm. I know him. Although pride is a sin, I am very proud to have known him! We’ve been neighbors, but we also shared a hotel room and have been colleagues for years, but not in school… We were colleagues at the “Steaua Bucharest” Club and in the National Shooting Team of Romania.

The worldly name of brother Nikolai is Iulian Raicea, one of the best rapid-fire pistol shooters in the World, Honored Master of Sports, with a World Junior Record and many distinctions at European and Balkan Championships, the World Cup and five Olympics where he came in the top, won bronze in Sydney and at Beijing participated at the same time as a competitor and as a coach for the national team of Thailand.

Far away from the country, on exotic realms, Iulică has not tired in his faith. He serves simultaneously as Olympic coach, World top 10 athlete and Orthodox deacon under the name of brother Nikolai. Whose brother? Our brother, of course. God bless!

Ratchaburi. Under construction

On February the 17th, 2009, Orthodox Church in Thailand Foundation purchased a plot of land with the size of 8200 square meters in Rachatburi province (about 100 km. from Bangkok). In this land the Holy Dormition parish is going to be established, as well as a theological school and an Orthodox cemetery.

The Chairman of the Parish council is monk Seraphim, no other than Raicea.

Choices

February 28, 2010

Our existence swings between freedom and slavery, that is, respectively, many choices vs. no choices.

The purpose of any therapy and consultancy is increasing the number of choices someone has in a particular context. Personal power is the power to decide, meaning to look up for choices… and choose!

A study shows people commit suicide not when they’re desperate, but when they think they have zero alternatives left. Suicide is not a choice, is lack of choice.

We live in a time where happiness equals having many choices and misery equals not having choices.

Open the mind and see what is possible, because life is about discovering your choices.

Surroundings

February 23, 2010

On this time, last year, I was in Paris with my wife and we had a splendid time there, perfect and quite unexpected for February, we took plenty of photos, walked around a lot and everything. One year later, meaning now, I look at the pictures and what I discover is that there are two kinds of images: on one hand  the big views, like Tour Eiffel and Notre Dame, that are the money-pictures, the symbols. On the other hand, there are the surroundings.

When travelling I like to look around at that kind of stuff:

Notre Dame de Paris "backstage"

It’s hard to pick a representative surroundings photo, so I’ve chosen randomly.

The point is these surroundings get me more emotional than the symbols. When I look back, the reality turns around as in the mirror: the big places are common and trivial, while the every-day-life pictures are deeper and more meaningful. The symbols are the milestones, but the surroundings are the journey, the joy, the memories.

Here is my idea for life today: look around! You might find everything that you missed looking for big goals.

Love of Life

Happy for the Spring time
Winter is Over

Here I am with my ideas for life,  starting with this contagious happiness of my kids.

They’re thrilled for no other reason than of a glorious weather.

Do we, adults, remember how does it feel to explode of so much joy, how is it to jump up and lol and really manifest our love of life?
